This form searches the IRS database for your charity. There are two ways to perform the search, by "tax-id" (EIN), or by name. The EIN is a nine-digit number, often displayed in the form 12-3456789.
Enter either an EIN or some search words in the boxes below, then click "search".
A note on non-profits with no EIN: this is possible for several reasons. Schools, churches, and government entities are tax-exempt by definition, and can take donations without an IRS tax-id. Also, new non-profits with a pending application can accept donations for up to a year before recieving a ruling from the IRS.
If you are unable to find your non-profit in the IRS database, then check the "No tax-id" box below, and click "search". You will immediately be taken to a blank form where you can fill in all the details without needing an EIN.
The results of your search appear below. If you see your charity, click on the link and you will be taken to a page where you can edit the details.
